Ted Wernham

Retirement income and asset manager, President & CEO

Ted Wernham founded Wernham Wealth Management with the realization that financial planners ought to help their clients plan their retirement finances for as long as they live, not just sell them an assortment of financial products.  Ted’s focus on process rather than product has stood him well over the years—the proof lies in his firm’s success and sterling reputation!

Ted is a Chartered Financial Services Broker (CFSB) and Elder Planning Counselor (EPC), one of the few professionals in Canada to hold both designations. He has attained the highest level within the Financial Advisors Association of Canada.  In 2014, there were only 124 qualified for membership in Canada, 50 in Ontario, and only one in the City of London. Ted Wernham earned that distinction by representing his clients well. 

When he graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1974, Ted joined London Life.  His ability and knowledge allowed him to build a loyal and satisfied clientele, with friendships extending over the forty years of his career. “The training and professionalism of my practice was nurtured at London Life, but markets and circumstances change.  I had my clients’ best interests in mind when I opened Wernham Wealth Management. We created the processes associated with our Retirement Blueprint and other planning tools to establish our unique service model,” explains Ted. “I just wasn’t seeing a level of client service in the industry that I found acceptable.”

Outside of work, Ted enjoys spending time with his eight children and four grandchildren.  He has served his profession on the National Board of Directors of the Financial Advisors Association of Canada and has chaired three National Standing Committees. He has received the National Quality Award numerous times and has been recognized as Agent of the Year, Manager of the Year, and Group Insurance Producer of the Year. Recently, Ted was the Director for Canada of the Canadian Initiative for Elder Planning Studies.

Ted’s community service includes four terms as London City Councillor; acting Chair of several community-based organizations including the Middlesex-London Health Unit, the London Transit Commission, and the Downtown London committee; as well as supporting London children’s sports teams and organizations. He has received special recognition as ‘Outstanding Young Londoner’ and is an Honorary Citizen of the City of Biloxi, Mississippi, USA.

Tom Wernham

Senior Associate

Tom worked for London Life Insurance Company for 22 years, taking on ever-increasing responsibility during his tenure. He left London Life and became the Vice President for Ontario of a major financial institution, leading a team of over 200 successful salespeople. In 2012 Tom joined his brother Ted at Wernham Wealth Management, bringing over 30 years of financial services sector experience to the firm.

A few days per week inevitably turned into a full time job. Tom is now busy applying his considerable skill set to sales and management roles at Wernham. “After so long in the harness, I found that I’m not very good at retirement,” he laughs. The thing Tom likes best is meeting clients old and new. He looks forward to helping them set their financial house in order. 

Outside of work, Tom spends a lot of time with his wife, three children and two grandchildren. His other loves are travel, reading, and the outdoors.

Carly Medeiros

Office Manager

Carly was excited to join the Wernham Wealth Management team as an Administrative Assistant, she has now through hard work taken the role of Office Manager. Carly was born and raised in London, Ontario, where she studied at Fanshawe College and began her administrative career immediately after. Her professional experience dates back to 2011, where she found her love for financial administration at TD Bank Financial Group and ultimately excelled in her field.

Outside of work, Carly loves to travel and experience new things. She also enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her dog Rocky. She is very excited about her future at Wernham Wealth Management.
